Wind power
Natural gas
  • The Mortlake powerstation is located 12km west of Mortlake

  • The Mortlake powerstation is located on 120 hectares, the actual plant taking up only 20 hectares. The 100 hectares is there if they ever need to extend the powerplant.

  • When finding a location to place a gas power plant many things need to be taken into account. These things are that it needs to be relatively close to the offshore/land gasplant. It also needs to be a large area.

  • The Macarthur wind farm is located 16km east of Macarthur.

  • The Marcarthur wind farm covers approximately 5,500 hectares of agricultural land. This land is dual-use which means that the land is also used for sheep and cattle grazing.

  • It is hard to find a good location for wind farms. A large amount of area is needed and it must be somewhere that will be accessible to wind. Vegetation and wildlife also needs to be taken into account.
