The Moyne Shire strategies
The Moyne Shire is involved in the environmental sustainbility strategy which involves making policies for the state and regional areas. One of the Moyne Shire's idea on reducing carbon emissions is the carbon offset program. This program encourages the comunity to plant enough trees every year to fully compensate for all the carbon emissions from the council's fleet vehicles. In 2009/10 the fleet vehichles produced approximately 507 tonnes. Around 3040 trees would need to be planted to fully balance the emissions created. The council funded groups to plant the trees. Many schools around the district have taken part. In 2013 the council funded $6439, 5673 trees were planted.
